What are the advantages of Eterna-Kote Silicone over rubber-based products?

Eterna-Kote is one step process – just clean and paint. No top coat is required. Other products that do not contain UV inhibitors, such as most rubber-based products, require a topcoat to protect them.

Can I use Eterna-Kote in a basement to stop water coming through?

Yes, you can but we have a much better product for this purpose on our website called Flexx-Gard. It is a black rubber-based product which is designed to be used on foundations in the ground. If you are using Flexx-Gard in other situations, like a roof, it will last for a few years but will not last as long as Eterna-Kote Silicone. Ideally if you are using Flexx-Gard on a roof it needs to be top coat painted as it does not have UV inhibiters in the product anything like Eterna Kote Silicone.

Our Flexx-Gard product is similar to other rubber-based products sold on the market

Can I walk on the Eterna-Kote or use it on a deck?

Yes, you can but it is designed for low foot traffic. It is suitable on top of a commercial building which needs to be walked on for maintenance. If you intend walking on it a lot, we suggest putting at least two thicker coats down and then covering it in Tiger Turf, Astroturf, floating deck with suitable protection on the parts touching the deck, etc

Is Eterna-Kote flexible?

Does Eterna-Kote shrink?

No, it is designed to stay flexible and last for many, many years

Does Eterna-Kote come in other colours?

Answer
Yes, it can be tinted but white is the preferred option as it is environmentally friendly and offers the added protection of a cool roof system, particularly in the summer time.
If you wish to tint Eterna-Kote, you will need to use our Silicone Tinters only.

Is repairing with Eterna-Kote cheaper than reroofing?

Yes, it is much cheaper than reroofing.
It is more expensive initially than using acrylic paint. However, as Eterna-Kote Silicone will last for more than 50 years there will be no need to repaint the roof. Additionally, Eterna-Kote will stop leaks and, unlike acrylic paint, will form a membrane which can handle pooling water 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Acrylic paint is not designed to have pooling water sitting on it 24/7. However, Eterna-Kote is specifically made for this purpose.

Is Eterna-Kote potable water safe?

Yes, it is and, unlike other products claiming to be drinking water safe, it is certified to be potable water safe in the USA

Can I repair my water tank with it?

Is Eterna-Kote BRANZ approved?

No, it is not. We have not sought BRANZ approval. The reason for this is we are using the International Standards for this type of product as Eterna-Kote is Made in the USA and is approved, ASTM D6694, ASTM D7281 amongst other things as it is sold around the world. We are happy to use testing from a global company which certifies products globally.

Do I need an undercoat or can I paint straight onto the surface?

No, you do not need an undercoat.
On a bitumen surface you may however choose to buy a blocker coat from us as there is the possibility that the tar may or may not bleed through the surface. This depends on the age of the bitumen and other factors.

Can I spray Eterna-Kote?
